The  OPERATIONAL WEATHER ALERT TABLE provides a brief summary of major weather conditions affecting various  regions of  North America  over the 2  to 15 days.  When the weather conditions clearly indicate a significant  and  prolonged weather events there may be some forecasts   summaries presented here which cover the next 30 days .

The The  OPERATIONAL WEATHER ALERT TABLE is updated every other day and the following information is provided to aid  in the comprehension of the various categories on the Grain Weather Alert table

WEATHER  INFO/ COVERAGE
Scattered........... 20-40%
Regional............ 40-55%
Widespread....... 55-75%
Extensive........... 75%or more

WEATHER  INFO/ INTENSITY
Average...........  This term is used to refer to a average of a typical type of weather event listed in the first column ( Rain  Wind  Snow  Heat etc)  .  So for rain event this would be a typical or average

Notable............  This term is used to refer to a somewhat heavier than normal precipitation rain or temperatures or wind etc

Intense............  This term is used to refer to a weather event that will even bring a short duration of heavy precipitation or high wind    cold or heat OR  a weather event which is a NOTABLE  but will last for a prolonged interval of time.
Extreme.........  A weather event of uncommon intensity and/ or  duration  which may be   Record or near record setting event

IMPACT
1 Minor -- a weather event which will have small impact   ( hey looks its raining… better slow down  or bring an umbrella)
2 Moderate- the weather event which will have a somewhat bigger impact but not all that unusual   (better allow for extra  travel time).
3 Significant--  a weather event of sufficient intensity or duration which  can   briefly alter or affect normal operations  ( better see if  I can leave  earlier or later  …make contingency plans    etc)

4 Major -  a weather event of sufficient intensity or duration which will likely provide some interruptions of daily operations regarding  People… Businesses …Schools … Organizations … Logistics and  Infrastructure.  This event  will receive moderate attention  from the mainstream media.
Most of not all schools cancelled .. Business  delayed  or closed  or  closed early extensive   airport delays / cancellations  Road / highway   travel significantly  delayed  etc.  (Better stay home or  get a hotel room  early  …this looks bad)

5 Exceptional-- A weather event of uncommon intensity and/ or  duration  which may be   Record or near record setting event  and will likely have  a major impact on People… Businesses …Schools … Organizations … Logistics and  Infrastructure.  This event  will receive  major  attention  from the mainstream media… (Hope I have  fresh water.. car   has full  tank of gas..  got some  extra cash… Maybe I should get the roof inspected  just in case…)
